Can I paint my neighbor's garage wall that is facing my pool area?

He has not painted the wall in the 13 years, I have lived in the house. He is mad about an agreement he made with the previous owner with attaching the fence to his garage wall. He was painting his house and asked me to repair his wall because he let the previous owner anchor the fence to his garage. I did not agree to his request because I had lived there 8 years. Then he stated he would not paint that side of garage Now I have been looking at an ugly wall each time I go into my backyard. I recently updated everything in the area and the wall takes away from the ambiance.

No, you can't paint without his permission, which I would get in writing from a guy like him. Like it or not, it's his. However, there is nothing to prevent you from building a screen of some sort to block it from view. Hope this helps.

You can work this out diplomatically. It doesn't sound like much to fix the fence attachment, so why not fix it and then paint the wall. When I am confronted with a similar situation that is sapping my brain energy and causing me stress, I just get the stuff and do the job and don't make a federal case out of it. But that's me. I just think of the time and effort involved to drag it out. You'll still a complete and normal man if you say "hey neighbor I'd like to fix that fence attachment and then paint the wall". If he asks what the story is just tell him "well I thought about it a little and just want to get the job done and be done with it". No excess drama.

He has no right to expect you to do something he and another person made an agreement on at all...But in the same effect...you cannot paint anything that is his property without his permission...He is just being an arz...Seems he would be happy to let you paint it..but then again..seems his "people skills" are not so great...He can legally unattach the fence himself legaly also if he wanted too..but this is information I would not volunteer to him..

Of course you can.

Just invite your neighbour for a pool party sometime.
