I just bought a Mosler Safe. I do not know the combination, but the door is open. The guy I bought it from thought the combination could be reset if you remove the plate behind the combination lock? Can the combination be reset and how do you do this. Is there a website that shows directions step by step? The numbers on the inside of the door are SPEC F1-D and S.M.N.A. Class C. 1Y243638 . I do not know the model number or year of the safe. It is about 30" high and 24" wide and 24" deep. It is on rollers.
Thank you.

Call a locksmith. If you screw up a Mosler it will cost a fortune to open it, but the combo can be changed on an open door pretty reasonably by a locksmith who knows how.

WARNING: Attempting to change a safe combination can be disastrous if you don't do it correctly. The cost of opening a safe after a botched combination change can run from $95 to hundreds of dollars (plus repairs). If in doubt, call a professional!

My advice would be to have a locksmith do it for you. If you monkey around with it, and the safe door is locked, then you are in for big trouble .
