there are two makes that i can reccomend 1. kaldewi ( spelling ?) or ariston , the cradle on the 1st is very good , from memory there is not much difference enamel or thickness , a good tip for steel baths for heat retention / sound proofing is to insulate below bath after fitting and testing , I fill bin liners with loft insulation 8 - 12 bags , it prolongs heat of bath by approx 20/30% . the baths mentioned are not designer styles just basic but do not go out of fashion / style and do the job expect to pay £ 70 / £90 -00 most plumbers merchants will source either . No matter how good, or expensive a steel bath is, if you drop anything hard into it you are fairly certain to chip the enamel.

A good perspex bath is lighter and more energy efficient as it retains heat rather than radiating it.

You should buy the thickest one you can afford, as these will last almost indefinitely. I have one that is 35 years old which shows no sign of wear or damage. But it is thick walled. Plumbers Merchants will tell you what thicknesses are currently available. DIY stores tend to sell thin, therefor easily damaged versions.

steel is costly and heavy - the porcelain end might properly be chipped and scratched. specific that's chillier - like your cook dinner pots. Acrylic is greater value-effective, lighter and greater straightforward to attend to for the installer. it may get scratched. There are businesses which could refinish an previous tub with the help of putting an acrylic liner over it rather of removing and changing the previous steel ones. Acrylic has come an prolonged way. yet I nevertheless want steel.

I would recommend cast iron. I know it's heavy but it is a better tub and very solid. Kohler makes one for less than 200.

i bought mine from B&Q and its fine, just be careful not to knock it as it may chip, and be careful when putting in the plug hole,it cost me £69.00.
