If you are handy around the house and have a hammer and a small screwdriver or a large nail you can do this. If you look you will see a hole on the bottom of the hinges. Drive the hinge pin out the top of the bottom hinge on the door. Don't remove the hinge from the door, just the pivot pin that holds the two parts of the hinge together. It can be either of the hinges, top or bottom but the bottom one is probably the easiest to reach. Take the pin outside to the driveway, if it's concrete or maybe the curb at the street because you need a hard surface. Lay the pin down and hit it with the hammer until the shaft of the pin has a bend in it. You may have to hit it more than once. Then reinsert the pin into the lined up hinge and tap it into place with the hammer. What this does is put friction on the hinge and it will keep the door from closing by itself. If the door still closes, do the same thing to the other hinge. I've done this many times over the past 30 years. The wall the door is installed on is out of plumb, in other words, the wall is leaning which makes the door close by itself.

When a door wants to close without any outside action, it is usually because the door is not set plumb in the door jamb. However, if you have central air/heat the door could be blown closed by the air circulation. As another answerer said, get a doorstop. A magnetic doorstop is probably the best.

WD40 evaporates, just wipe off the excess, so it doesn't run down the frame. as for the door, get a door wedge, to slip under the door
