My Maytag Quiet Series 300 dryer seems to be having some timer issues. I set the dryer at "normal" which lasts for only 40 minutes, however when I checked after 2 hours, the dryer was still running and the timer said that there was an hour and 26 minutes left. In addition, the dryer indicated that the clothes inside were "damp" but the clothes were completely dry. There was an awful lot of steam when I opened it, which might explain the sensor-problem, but I'm mostly concerned about the timer.

Also, the dryer was purchased around a year ago and this problem has occurred once before, about two months ago.

Hello,

The timer will never cycle correctly if the dryer is not venting right, if you open the door and steam is coming out the vent is going to be kinked or clogged behind the dryer. Check the vent behind the dryer, if that is clear go outside and check the dryer vent flap, can you feel air? I bet you wont be able to feel much if you can.

Have a dryer vent cleaning company out to clean the vent, they make DIY dryer vent kit's depending on your vent run it may be worth having a co come out.

Once the dryer can breath run a cycle the if the timer still doesn't advance then it will need to be replaced.

The issues you describe point to vent issue. If you have more question or require further appliance repair help, please don't hesitate to drop by and say hi or ask your question!

Go to your local Maytag dealer with all of this information. They can tell you what is wrong and sell you the correct parts. They will even tell you what to do to install them yourself without a service call charge. Maytag's are great for fix it yourself.
