Question:
I'm looking to replace my cheap single pane metal frame basement windows with more efficient vinyl windows?

The windows are cheap metal framed set inside of a metal frame when they poured the concrete. There is no window treatment or trim.

Does anyone know of a step by step DIY website of video with instructions for replacement?

Thank You!

Determine how big you want the replacement windows to be. If you're going to use the basement as living space, there are probably requirements for minimum size for light, ventilation, and egress. Removing the old window is the fun part (although it can be somewhat messy). You need to make the opening large enough to accommodate the new window's required rough opening - meaning that the opening in the masonry needs to be large enough to accept your new window. Alternately, your new window needs to have a rough opening requirement small enough to allow it to be fitted into the opening left after you've removed the old window. Shim the new window to ensure it's square, level, and plumb within the opening - then secure it and caulk and insulate around it. Finally, trim out the opening to suit. The whole operation can be seen online at http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-replace-basement-window-191756/view/

I had to hit 'reload' and play around a bit to get the page to load - and then there's the minor matter of having to watch an ad before the actual installation video, and the new window is wood (not vinyl) - but hopefully it'll help.

i think that's going to require a professional.the new window has to be fitted anchored and sealed and unless it's done right you will wish you called a professional
