Depending on the "kilowatt" per hour charges by the electric company. You can keep the costs down by adding a Programmable thermostat, setting it to what you want. But the rule of thumb is about 200.00 a month for the "cooling season". You can run a fan in rooms you are in most of the time. this will reduce the need for a cooler temp.

probably about $300 per month JUST for the central air, HOWEVER there are big variables such as utility price in your area, humidity (this is huge factor), and number of times doors open which typically relates to umber of occupants. Funny how we set thermostat higher for heating ad lower for cooling. I usually do 75 in winter and 72 in summer when using c/a. Everything I ever read claims shutting the c/a off does not help and that if less than 6 hours and adjustment higher does ot help either as c/a has to work hard to get back down to cool temp. The hardest your central air will work is getting rid of moisture and getting temp down, so if you leave house to run errands and change it from 72 to 76, then it will work harder to get back down to 72 than if left at 72. If you have a basement you can circulate air from basement ot help cool house. If furnace in basement you can open to intake basement air and blow it upstairs but you should leave basement door open and could even have fan blowing air into basement. Another thing is all the time I see these c/a units sitting right in the hot sun because builders are idiots and put them on south side with no shade. Any shade you can give it will make it more efficient and run cheaper but in the end these things are energy hogs and will easily cost at least $200 per month in best situation for a 2500 sq ft house with 90 degree temps. Almost forgot, leaving curtains closed helps huge too/

I have a two story 3600 sq. ft. home and in the summer I like to keep it really cool and I set my thermostat anywhere from 68-69 degrees so it's nice and cool and most of the time when watching t.v we need a blanket. My bill is always under $200 and that is gas and electric combined, that is how our utility company works they always bill gas and electric together. Now, the winter is way different. I keep my heat set at 69 degrees and it runs us anywhere from $350-$400 a month. My last bill was a bit over $400. When you set your thermostat you should keep it set at that temp.in the summer so the air doesn't have to work so hard it you turn it down. If you have it set at 70 for ex. it will automatically shut off and then when it goes to 71 it would start again and cool your house off til it gets back down to 70

This depends on your location, how hot and humid it gets as well as the cost from the electric co per kilowatt. As far as the temp that goes by your comfort level as well as the accuracy of your tstat. I would install ceiling fans if possible to help push the air around the rooms.I keep mine on 74 with the fans Cost for me is about 200 month. Good Luck

How long is a piece of string???? Lots of variables here. Insulation in the walls, outside temperature and humidity. It sounds like you need to monitor your house over a period of time and compare it to bills in months that you do not have the AC going.
