We have a second house that is hardly used and I went to try to tidy it up to move in. I was cleaning the bathtub and noticed water was taking a while to drain. As it was draining I head gurgling noises from the bathroom sink. Then I went to clean the kitchen sink and it too drained very slowly, and I head gurgling from the bathroom, I went in and some dirty *** water had backed up into the sink and bathtub(but the the toilet). Is the the clear sign of a clog? What do I do?

All your sinks tub and toilet drain into a main drain which is clogged Two choice rent a snake link below or hire a plumber Most plumber like roto rooter charge $300 dollars to clear a drain whether it takes 10 minutes or a half hour The rental is cheaper The labor is you and It can get messy.

If you have a home depot or equipment rental store in your area call for pricing Its easy all you have to do is take the P-trap off a sink and feed the snake down the line I suggest a 100ft one that way you can run it all the way to your street main to ensure the line is clear

http://homedepotrents.com/diyTools/rooter_100.asp?cm_sp=tool_rental-_-overlayH-_-easy_rooter

If you need further information email through answers only You can also u-tube how to replace a P-trap and wall arm it will show you how to remove the pipes to get at the main drain

Also if your pulling dirt out of the drain its a sign of a broken pipe somewhere in the line running to the city main drain About the only way you can know for sure is a snake cam Roto rooter charged up to $600 for that service You can rent the snake cam for far less and run down the drain yourself

Home depot also rents the cam at least in my state

Hope it helps

Backed up into the sink and tub, but not the toilet? That's weird. It suggests that the tub and sink aren't on the same drain as the loo.

Whatever the case, it sounds to me that you have some kind of blockage in the main drain that serves those three fixtures, and you're going to have to get that sorted. Break out the wrench and snake, get cranking.

Good luck with it.

It certainly sounds like a partially clogged main sewer line. Most homes have a "cleanout" located at a spot farthest from the city main or septic tank. Some are outdoors, others in the basement. Locate it, remove the cap and snake from there to the city main or septic tank.

i don't think of you have a stoppage situation, it would not sound like it is clogged up. You do could have the tank reset. offering the bowl, the place you sit down, isn't leaking from the floor connection and it would not rock, bypass away it on my own. The tank would be related to the bowl by using 2 to 4 bolts. those are referred to as 'tank to bowl' bolts. They strengthen throughout the time of the tank and are tightened to the bowl by using rubber washers, metallic washers and nuts. turn the water off and empty the tank. Disconnect the provision tube. Unscrew the nuts and do away with tank. in the event that they are stubborn, they are able to be decrease in a million/2 by using a rapidly hack observed. an electric powered reciprocating observed is lots less complicated in case you could borrow one. purchase the tank to bowl kit which will incorporate some new tank to bowl bolts, nuts and washers and a gasket for the spud on the flush valve. Reinstall the tank. it is going to likely be tight adequate to not rock once you're achieved and point. do not tighten previous the factor that it would not rock. They ruin with ease. If the present filler valve, the ball cock, or the flush valve are defective, replace them with new ones on a similar time as you have the tank off. as quickly as the tank is reset, it's time to handle your situation. The filler valve could be set to offer up filling while the water in the tank rises to 5/8" from the top of the overflow tube. make effective the little tube from the filler valve is working water into the overflow tube. Your bowl has been ravenous for adequate water to flush it is contents. it is why it does a greater efficient activity on the 2d flush.

May be a blockage in the main line or check the vent stack they too can become blocked and cause plumbing problems so having either checked may help you out ok.
