Question:
How can I get rid of the moss growing on my roof tiles? Is this a DIY or professional job?

We need to clean up the roof of moss. The recent builders nearly killed themselves sliding down the moss when it rained. I am not sure which professionals to ask, or, as it is a dormer bungalow, is this a job we can tackle ourselves, and is so, how?

There are products you can buy that after sprayed on, kill the moss. Go to a good, local nursery and ask about various products. Spraying the moss with some kind of a killer is better than scrubbing it off because that can be damaging to your roof. There's no real good way to get rid of moss. Over time, it will just come back. After you get rid of what is on your roof now, there are no products that will prevent the moss from coming back either. I have looked into this. My Dad has the same problem. Good luck.

their are special weedicides to kill the moss. spray on a little, be careful cause this may be poisonous to humans. the power wash it to get rid of the buildup that has occurred. Then you can get a pro to re-grout the tiles to prevent the moss from growing back too soon. this site will help you with that http://www.regroutingtile.com/

I actually just finished a job for someone doing the same thing for the same problem. what you want to do is have the roof power washed. You can di it yourself if you feel comfortable by borrowing or renting one. The other way is to find a local painting company that offers their services. Good Luck !!

I suggest a professional do the cleaning, all it takes is 1 slip & moss gets quite slippery.

You need proper sunlight. So if your roof is shaded by trees remove them an it should go away
