Can I use WD40 to lubricate non-electrical parts of a laundry dryer?

It's hasn't been starting, sounds 'clogged'. I just cleaned out all the lint and dust, but should I lubricate?

w-d40 will attract lint and cause more problems. Sounds like you might have a seized bearing or a tired motor. It could also be lint and dirt built up in the blower housing. If it won't start at all it could be the start switch, timer, lid switch/unbalance, or the high limit fuse might be bad. Good luck. Use a continuity tester to check the switches.

Your best bet is to look on WD40"s web page. They have solutions there. When we had a problem I called the Maytag/and other local Dryer people. They told us what was wrong and how to fix it. Check in the back of the dryer for lint. It builds up in the back too. Or even the dryer line might be clogged. You just might need a good dryer clean. It pays to get someone to clean it out properly, so no fire starts.

WD40 will work as a lubricate but it will evaporate after a time because of the heat generated, most moving parts in a laundry dryer have self-lubricating bearings.

WD40 isn't what I'd really call a lubricant. It's a good rust remover, but for lubrication you really need oil or grease.
For very temporary lubrication it can work.
Have you tested the motor to make sure that the motor is working properly? The motor may be stalling.

WD-40 was made for use on electrical circuit boards to drive away water("WD" stands for "Water Dispersant"), so it will not hurt anything by itself. If there is a little bit of rust, the WD-40 might take care of it, but it is not a long term solution. Also, WD-40 is flammable, so be cautious in how you use it.

No, fumes will be in your clothes, lint will stick to the layer of wd-40, and could start a fire.

that clogged sound is proably a starting capacitor,or switch.but yes you can lub.all parts and reguardless of the other answer,,,it is a lub as well as rust buster, and it will not get on your clothes unless you spray it inside the drum.do not use grease as advised by another.
