I just purchased a house and my brother purchased a gas grill for me 3 months ago. We had issues from the begining of use. The oils from the meat would fall right into the fire and it would flame up terrible. I kept pressing my husband to tell my brother about the grill being a bad make or being defected. But because it was a gift...he didn't want my brother to be offeded..but Why would a brand new grill do that? We kept it and must've used it about 6 to 8 times this summers. Well yesterday evening I was grilling ribs and it caught on fire, like burning out of control and its now totally ruined. It was on my back porch and almost caught my house on fire. I came right it time to see what happened and my husband and I frantically and quickly put it out.

What can I do about this? Is there some place I can call about a bad product.... Any help please???

If you followed the directions and it still caught on fire then it could be a situation where the manufacturer can replace it for you. As the other responder said, the grill should have either lava rocks or deflector plate to keep the grease from hitting the flames directly. Again, the instructions will tell you which method should be used. If you don't have the instruction manual you can go to the manufacturer's website for that.

My grill does the very same thing and it has since I purchased it. It has nothing to do with the cleanliness of the grill. My deflector plates are in place, the grease trap and bottom of the grill are clean. For some reason it still catches certain foods, such as burgers or sausage on fire and I cook on the lowest setting. I think it may have to do with the regulator. That is why I have been searching for an answer here in the forums myself.

The meat juices should not have been falling directly into the flame, there should be a plate above the flame with lava rock on it to catch the drops of grease and smoke it back into the meat. Sounds like someone forgot to put the lava rock and the metal plate in.

called roughing it, a grease fire is your own responsibility, as long as you learned something from this, chalk it up to experience
