I live on private land in a house trailor, and the neighbor next door to me will NOT do anything about their overflowing septic tank, and it is overflowing right under me. And I would like someone to please tell me who I can report this matter to. The smell is just getting way out of control, and noone will do anything about it. Going on for more than 1 year now.

County Health department will have to check that one. If that doesn't work, does your area have a "Call for Action" or a team of reporters that investigates things like neighbors or government officials that don't do their job?

Always check the easy simple things first. Dig a hole near the drain field and check the height of the ground water. To work really well, the ground water should be no higher than 36 inches below the bottom of the drain field. The liquid coming out of the drain field goes through an aerobic process in the soil that cleans the liquid and turns it into clean water (that in many parts we then drink again) If the water table is so high that the liquid cannot go through the aerobic process it moves into the ground water and pollutes.

Also contact your State's Department of Environmental Agency, if the County does not responded quick enough to your liking. (DEP) is also another name used Department of Environmental Protection.

If you are in a town, village or city suburb..call the city inspector..If you are in a rural area call the County Inspector..they will be listed in the telephone directory..This is a problem they will be required to resolve.
