How to repair a cigar burn on linoleum floor?

The linoleum is quite thick and mostly a light grey in color. The burn mark is black and 1/2 way down through the vinyl. It has a krispy coating that a 3-m pad refuses to break through with repeated scrubbing. My thought is to sand away the color distortion then apply an acrylic sealer such as a seam sealer used to seal vinyl butted pieces. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

There is a repair kit (see link below) that allow you to repair a vinyl floor. I've used it and it does a good job. Because the finish that comes with the kit is different, it may get dirtier in that area.

I generally agree with the prior answer guy. I don't think you'll get a good result with your plan.

You need to find a donor piece, in some closet, under the fridge, that sort of thing. Cut out a piece big enough, square probably best, and then VERY CAREFULLY use that as a template to cut the same sized square around the burn. Swap squares, and it should look pretty good. If there is a bit too much gap, THEN go to your seam sealer.

The best is to replace that tile or cut a square out and replace. But if you cannot find a matching tile, I'd try your approach or maybe there is a tile in a closet, corner, etc that could be lifted to replace with?
