We keep the door to the dishwasher closed at all times. We were wondering how else they could get in. I have even tried running it and they seem to be able to hide. Where are they hiding. I thought the water or the heat would kill them. We have caught one this year and we caught 2 last year. It is making me crazy. I don't want to use my dishwasher!

There is an opening on the side of the dishwasher, it is for air circulation as well as an air-gap on some models. The first thing you will need to do is turn off the water to the dishwasher. Disconnect the water supply and cap the opening. Disconnect the drain and cap that opening. Unplug or disconnect the electrical supply. Remove the screws holding the dishwasher in place. Pull the dishwasher forward until you see the opening on the side of the unit. Fill the opening with steel-wool or aluminum foil, this can be removed later if you or someone else wants to use the dishwasher. Now cover the opening with metal foil tape or more aluminum foil. Push the dishwasher back into place and secure.

They probably have a cozy little nest on the top of the dishwasher in the sound proof insulation under the counter top. Pull out the dishwasher and check. Replace the insulation if needed. Put traps under the dishwasher. Flank a box of mouse seed with several unbaited traps.

Mice don't need much room to squeeze through. Have you checked the drain system?

Else you may have a crack that you don't realize.

Personally, doing dishes by hand until you can get a new dishwasher or this one really checked out sounds a lot more sanitary.....and for the price it may be cheaper to get a new one.

Pull the old one out and I bet you will need to make repairs to the "shell" and/ or flooring. Be sure to put tin foil around any openings from water and electrical wiring to help prevent mice from getting in again.

If the mice are in that frequently........they evidently know the way!

Other way would be to put a cat in there at night........JUST KIDDING!

they're there for the two food or guard. discover out how they are stepping into and do away with the hollow. examine all over the living house for openings, cracks, gaps in the inspiration, siding etc. Fill the holes with concrete or steel wool (the two factor that mice can not bite with the aid of). Then do away with the food. shop all your food in tight bins. rubbish too. in case you think of like a mouse then even crumbs from the toaster are a food furnish. this may well be the toughest area on condition that potential food components are everywhere. additionally, attempt peanut butter in an previous college mouse capture -it truly works exceedingly reliable. be careful approximately illnesses that they carry about. examine up on hantavirus on a wellbeing branch information superhighway website. reliable success.
