We are having a problem with mice in our dishwasher. How are they getting in?

We keep the door to the dishwasher closed at all times. We were wondering how else they could get in. I have even tried running it and they seem to be able to hide. Where are they hiding. I thought the water or the heat would kill them. We have caught one this year and we caught 2 last year. It is making me crazy. I don't want to use my dishwasher!

There is an opening on the side of the dishwasher, it is for air circulation as well as an air-gap on some models. The first thing you will need to do is turn off the water to the dishwasher.
