is it a wick light or is it a gass light if it has a wick you need to replace the wick if it is a gas light then you ned to cut off the gas take the end off and find some stiff wire you could go to a welder and ask for some mig wire long enough to do the job he might just give it to you now run that wier through the lines then take some cotton and end the wire around it and poor some finger nail pollish remover on it and have someone pull out the wire draging the coton ball through the line and dont cremp the wire you need to push it back through a few times its like cleaning a gun

Try using a smaller watt bulb. All light fixtures are built to handle a bulb of just so much wattage. If your using a 100w bulb, go down to a 60w. If this doesn't remedy the situation, call an electrician.

Sounds lke it's improperly installed & over-heating.

Check for proper ventilation & air-flow through socket.

With power turned off, check that connections are solid.

I think they're used for growing pot inside during cold weather, or during nice weather if you don't live in Alaska.
